About VZL/ Contemporary Art
VZL/ Contomporary Art is the brainchild of Marian van Zijll Langhout. Marian van Zijll Langhout has an extensive track record in accountancy as well as hosting exhibitions from her accountancy firm. The intimate gallery space functions as a democratic platform for ideas, debate and support around contemporary art in the broadest sense. The international programme is shaped by its diversity; reinterpretations of classical motifs meet new media and performance in process led exhibitions. The gallery programme is supplemented with (international) art fair presentations.

Eugenie Boon(1995) is born in Curacao and lives and work in The Hague.
In 2020 she graduated at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht, with
honors she got her Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Eugenie Boon is a multi-disciplinary artist who’s works revolves around
her upbringing on the island of Curacao and the island’s historical
relation to the Netherlands. In her attempt to understand the subtle
complexities she encounters in her daily life experiences, she is
constantly confronted with the aspect of duality. Duality through topics
like religion, colonialism, gender, inequality and identity and the
struggles with that duality comes back in her performances,
installations ,video works and paintings. In a shamanistic, playful,
poetic yet still critical way, her projects questions social-political
issues and cultural vs institutional structures in which the spectator
is challenged to recognize their self and perhaps reflect on their own
position.
